For many decades, Kreuzberg was on the outskirts of West Berlin. The coordinates have shifted. Today, Berlin-Mitte is the direct point of reference, although Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and Neukölln can also be reached quickly. In addition to the legendary SO 36, the Bergmannkiez is the most well-known area for Berliners and tourists alike. The Bergmannkiez is located in the part of Kreuzberg that some already describe as middle-class.
