Energy performance certificate

The energy performance certificate provides data on the energy efficiency and energy costs of a building. This enables prospective tenants or buyers to compare different properties with each other. Energy performance certificate have been mandatory for all residential buildings in Germany since 2009. Since 2014, property sellers or landlords are required to include information on the energy efficiency standard in the property advertisement. When renting out or selling, the energy certificate must be presented to the potential tenant or buyer, for example when viewing the apartment, otherwise a heavy fine may be imposed. In the apartment listing on, the landlord can therefore provide information on the energy performance certificate. In the case that the license has only just been requested or is not needed for your building, this can also be indicated in the listing.
